BOQ Kicks off Fundraising With $250,000 for Flood Victims

Wednesday, 29/12/2010

BOQ has today announced it will support the Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal with an initial donation of $250,000 for victims of the Christmas floods.

As a proud Queensland bank, BOQ has been the first bank to contribute towards the relief efforts to help the thousands of Queenslanders affected by what now appears to be the worst floods in Queensland’s history.

As many Queensland towns are preparing for even more rain and devastation, BOQ’s donation will assist victims with the huge clean up process as the flood waters ease.

BOQ will be making available its Australia wide branch network as collection points for the appeal, making it easier for everyone to donate money at any BOQ branch.

BOQ Managing Director David Liddy said he was hopeful the Bank's donation would go some way to helping those affected.

"To see Australians' Christmas' washed away has been heart-breaking and we just felt we had to act.

"We hope this donation provides some assistance to those affected and we encourage all Australians to get involved."

BOQ branches throughout Australia are accepting donations towards the Queensland Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal.
