Monday, 01/06/2009

To celebrate Queensland’s 150 years of independence from New South Wales, Bank of Queensland, together with APN Australian Publishing and Quest Community Newspapers, is giving readers the chance to win a limited edition Q150 Commemorative Coin.

There are 16 participating titles from Quest Community Newspapers and 12 titles from APN Australian Publishing. Each title will reward 150 lucky readers with the Q150 Commemorative Coin.

All readers have to do is collect their local paper and follow the entry form instructions then drop their entry at their local Bank of Queensland branch to be in the running to win one of these limited edition coins.

Bank of Queensland Managing Director David Liddy said the Bank is very proud to be giving this unique opportunity to Queenslanders to own a limited edition Q150 commemorative coin.

"Bank of Queensland has a unique bond with the State, including a history stretching back almost as long as Queensland’s and it’s great to celebrate and commemorate our great State in 2009," Mr Liddy said.

“It’s a very special year for all Queenslanders with Q150 reflecting the fascinating and powerful growth story that is Queensland’s history. There has been a lot of positive change during that time and for this I think we all should be justifiably proud.

“The Bank’s involvement with Queensland’s 150th celebrations is in keeping with our commitment to support the communities in which we operate. During our 135-year history, we have grown hand-in-hand with the Queensland community, and our unique Owner-Managed Branch model saw us achieve a national presence in 2007, with branches now in every Australian state and territory.

“Bank of Queensland is also the proud sponsor of the Q150 Shed which will be visiting regional towns across the State in 2009 and I encourage anyone local to the shed destinations to go along and experience something truly unique.”

Queensland Premier Anna Bligh said the Q150 Commemorative Coin was a great idea.

"What a fantastic way to celebrate our Queensland's 150th birthday year and the presence of the Bank of Queensland in this state from the early days of European settlement," she said.

The winners will be the first 150 valid entries drawn from each of the participating APN Australian Publishing and Quest Community Newspapers.

The competition will commence in early June 2009 and will run until Friday, 4 July 2009.
