BOQ Achieves Record Result for Sick Kids

BOQ branches around Australia helped raise $223,000 this year through the Bank’s annual Banking on our Kids appeal, the highest amount since the appeal started in 2004.

The funds will be shared equally between FIVE of Australia’s leading children’s hospital foundations, including the Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, which treats thousands of seriously sick and injured kids from Queensland every year.

BOQ Managing Director David Liddy said he was thrilled that the energy and initiative displayed by the Bank’s Owner-Managers and staff in raising money for this important charity had achieved such a marvellous result.

“I’m just thrilled that we have raised $223,000, our highest amount yet, for Children’s Hospital Foundations Australia (CHFA) and know that this money will be able to make a significant difference to the lives of sick and injured children and their families right around the country.

“In fact, CHFA have informed us that the dollars raised will be channelled into the areas of greatest need in each hospital, specifically paediatric research initiatives leading to breakthrough treatments and cures for sick and injured kids, vital hospital equipment and patient and family support services that otherwise would not exist.

“It just goes to show that, even in tough times, Australians are happy to dig deep to help each other out and especially to help our kids.

“I have been thoroughly impressed by BOQ teams across Australia who supported fund-raising events as diverse as lunchbox days, auctions, baby photo competitions and literally dozens of raffles for everything from a scratch-it tree to iPhones and Veuve Clicquot.

“I’d also like to thank the hundreds of customers and passers-by who donated to the appeal, and also to the many who gave our branch staff a solid ribbing when they dressed up as medical staff on 1 July to launch the appeal.

“Every year this appeal reinforces to me what’s important in life; community, kids, and health.  And every year local residents and businesses alike really make us proud to be part of such a compassionate and generous community,” David said.
