BOQ hit $1,000,000 Target for Banking on our Kids Appeal

BOQ has hit an ambitious $1,000,000 target for the Banking on our Kids appeal, which raises money for Children’s Hospital Foundations Australia (CHFA).

The Bank has raised a total of $274,000 for 2011 and a huge $1,000,000 raised since the appeal launched in 2004.

BOQ Managing Director David Liddy thanked local communities around the country for throwing their support behind the campaign.

“Once again, local communities everywhere have showed us how truly compassionate and generous they are.

“While we always have a lot of fun getting behind the appeal, it’s really special to know that all of our fundraising efforts are going to such a great cause.

“CHFA have told us that the funds raised this year will help fund important research programs to find cures for childhood illnesses, medical equipment that provides life-saving care, and to support family and patient services to make a difference in the lives of children and their families across the country.

“I was also thrilled with the energy and initiative displayed by the Bank’s Owner-Managers and staff in raising money for this important charity which achieved such a marvellous result.

“It’s amazing to see how this appeal has grown in the eight years since launch.

“In our first year the appeal raised $9,000; this year we raised $274,000.

“We thought a cumulative total of $1,000,000 was a stretch target but given it’s my last year as MD at BOQ, I thought we’d give it a crack.

“I’m so proud of the BOQ team for hitting the target!”
