You will need:

to be aged over 14
to be the account holder (applications cannot be completed and submitted by an Executor/Administrator/Power of Attorney/Legal representative)
an Australian residential address
an Australian driver's licence or Australian passport
an Australian mobile number
a smartphone that supports iOS 14.0+ or Android 8.0+.

What controls can I place on my new card?

With your myBOQ Visa Debit Card, you can control where your card can be accessed, including the ability to turn off:

Cash out transactions
ATM transactions
Online transactions
Point of sale transactions
International transactions
Phone orders
Contactless transactions

Can I block international transactions on myBOQ Visa Debit Card?

Yes. You can arrange to have this blocked by simply calling 1300 737 766.

What if I can’t find myBOQ Visa Debit Card and I want to temporarily prevent transactions?

Your new card comes with card controls, which will enable you to place a block on your card (if you suspect it has been lost or stolen). You can enable these features in the myBOQ app.

What if I don’t want a contactless card?

You can turn off contactless functionality on your Visa Debit card by simply calling 1300 737 766.

This card is for my child, what extra protection does the myBOQ Visa Debit Card provide?

By default, all adult entertainment and gambling transactions will be blocked on all myBOQ Visa Debit Cards held by customers under the age of 18. Customers will need to call us once they turn 18, if they wish to remove these controls. Additionally, the following categories of transactions can be optionally blocked: cryptocurrency, liquor/alcohol, online trading, professional services and store value cards. To block one or more of these categories, call us on 1300 737 766.

How many Everyday Accounts can I open?

You can open 10 Everyday Accounts in the same name.

Can I open a joint account?

Yes, although you can only have 2 people as joint account holders. Once you’ve completed your application, we’ll send the other person a message with details on how to get started.

Just so you know, if the person you are opening the account with is a new myBOQ customer, they’ll receive a unique application ID and an invite prompting them to download the myBOQ app to get started.

If they’re already with myBOQ, they can apply using the application ID in the myBOQ app. This is done in the account section by selecting ‘Sign up for a new account’ and then ‘Join an existing application’.

How to open an Everyday Account?

To open an Everyday Account with BOQ, all you need to do is download the myBOQ app or apply online here. You’ll need your Australian phone number and Australian driver’s licence or passport. After that, we’ll take it from there. Find out more about the myBOQ banking app here.

Can I use an Everyday Account to offset a BOQ home loan?

No. Talk to a lending specialist at your nearest BOQ branch to learn more about the ideal product to suit your needs.

What is a debit card?

Your physical debit card looks like a normal credit card, but it only uses money you already have in your bank account. When you buy things or withdraw cash using your debit card the funds come from your everyday account.

Can I use my debit card overseas?

Yes! With BOQ you can use your debit card overseas wherever Visa is accepted. Use the card as you normally would but we do have to apply certain extra fees and charges when you use your Australian debit card in another country.

How old do you have to be to get a debit card?

You need to be 14 years or over to have an Everyday Transaction Account and get a debit card with BOQ.

If I already have a Day2Day Plus account, can I access the myBOQ app?

No, but you can access it through internet banking. You’ll only find the Everyday Transaction and Future / Smart savings accounts on the myBOQ app.

Can I access this account using desktop Internet Banking?

No, sorry.

We’ve created a fresh, modern app designed to give you truly mobile everyday banking. But to do that, we had to create an entirely separate system to support this and all the other exciting features to come.

That’s why myBOQ accounts are only available through the mobile app but other BOQ products (like Day2Day Plus and Fast Track Starter Account) are on internet banking but not the myBOQ app.
