Why the change?

We're always looking for ways to make banking better and easier for you, which is why we’re making important updates to our technology and systems. 

As part of these updates, we're replacing all BOQ eftpos Debit Cards with a BOQ Visa Debit Card, giving you secure and reliable access to more ways to make payments.

 

Changes at a glance

 

What's changing? 

  • Your card number, card expiry date and CVV will change.
  • You’ll be one of the first to receive the new-look BOQ Visa Debit Card.

 

What's not changing? 

  • Your account details (BSB & Account Number) will remain the same.

What do I need to do?

Check your details

Make sure your contact details are up to date, so your new card goes to your current address.

You can update your address by calling 1300 66 26 05 or sending us a secure message via Internet Banking.

Activate your new card

Once you receive your new card, you will need to activate it. Just follow the instructions in the letter.

Alternatively, you can call 1300 99 57 10 or visit your local BOQ branch.

Understanding the changes

  • What's changing?

    In August 2021, BOQ eftpos Debit Cards will be replaced with a new BOQ Visa Debit Card, which will give you access to more features and benefits. This new card can be used to shop online, in-store, over the phone and overseas. It also comes with access to Visa contactless functionality and the extra protection of Visa’s Zero Liability policy* which covers you for fraudulent or unauthorised transactions on your card. It’s important that you activate your new card once you receive it, as your old card will stop working from 31 March 2022.

  • Why is my card changing?

    This change is part of the important updates we are making to our technology and systems that aim to transform and simplify our customers’ banking experience and provide our customers with access to a wider range of benefits.

  • When will I receive my new card?

    We will begin sending out new BOQ Visa Debit Cards from the end of August 2021. Please ensure your contact details, especially your mobile number, postal address and email address are up to date to make sure we’re sending your card to the correct address. You can update your details by calling 1300 55 72 72 or sending us a secure message via Internet Banking.

  • Will my card number change?

    Yes. Your new BOQ Visa Debit Card will have a new card number, expiry date and CVV. 

  • Will my bank account details change?

    No. Your new BOQ Visa Debit Card will still be linked to your existing account.

  • What happens to my old eftpos card?

    Your new BOQ Visa Debit Card will be replacing your existing eftpos card. We recommend that when you receive your new card, you activate and begin using it immediately and destroy your old eftpos card.

  • Can I keep using my old BOQ eftpos debit card?

    From 31 March 2022, your old BOQ eftpos card will no longer work.

  • I have multiple debit cards. Will they all be sent at the same time?

    Your cards will be coming at different times based on their card reissue date, however you will receive all replacement cards before 31 March 2022.

  • How do I activate my new card?

    You can activate by calling 1300 99 57 10, or by visiting your local BOQ branch.

  • What happens if I don’t activate my new card?

    You will still be able to activate your new BOQ Visa Debit Card after 31 March 2022 by calling 1300 99 57 10, or by visiting your local BOQ branch. 

  • Why haven’t I received my card?

    New Visa Debit cards were sent from August 2021. If you have not received your card, please call us on 1300 66 26 05.

  • Why is my card not working?

    If you are unable to use your card, please contact our local Customer Contact Centre team on 1300 66 26 05.

  • Can I still withdraw money on my BOQ Visa Debit card?

    Yes. You can withdraw money on the card at any Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) and at any participating retailer that supports cash out at point of sale.

  • Is my new BOQ Visa Debit Card a credit card?

    No. As it’s a debit card, you can only spend your own money. The card will be linked to your existing transaction account.

  • Can I get a new eftpos card?

    No. BOQ will no longer be issuing eftpos only cards.
