BOQ Private Bank Opens on Gold Coast

Bank of Queensland has enhanced its already substantial presence on the Gold Coast with the official opening of a Private Bank for high-net worth clients.

BOQ already has the largest network of branches and ATMs of any bank on the Coast as well as a significant business banking presence, and the addition of an elite banking service for the City’s many cash-rich, time-poor professionals and businesspeople completes the offering.

The Private Bank, BOQ’s first outside Brisbane, was officially opened last night by Federal Member for Moncrieff Steven Ciobo.

In officially declaring the facility open, Mr Ciobo said he was delighted Australia’s fastest growing retail bank had chosen the Gold Coast to open a private branch.

“As Australia’s small business capital and sixth largest city, it makes sense to welcome the Bank of Queensland’s Private Bank to the Gold Coast to service the growing needs of local business people,” Mr Ciobo said.

“It’s a reflection of the strong business growth on the Gold Coast, with more interstate investors looking to transact in our vibrant city.

“The Private Bank will offer more support for the Gold Coast’s thriving business community boasting dozens of ASX listed companies across a range of industries, including tourism, which our city is largely dependant on.”

Managing Director David Liddy said the increasing demand for premium banking services on the Coast not only reflected its well-known focus on lifestyle but its growing affluence.

“The entrepreneurial spirit which is alive and well down here means there are a growing number of high net worth individuals who aren’t necessarily millionaires, by any means, but who want to spend more time enjoying their lifestyles and less in bank queues or on the phone,” Mr Liddy said.

“We basically take the hard work and hassle out of managing clients’ finances.  The secret is that every client has the dedicated services of a Relationship Manager and support staff who know them and their financial situation intimately and are never further away than a phone call.

“The style of Private Banking we offer is, as you’d expect, different from the other banks – we are smaller and have fewer customers, so we can offer a more intimate and attentive level of service.

“The staff here have all been hand-picked for their exceptional service, efficiency, knowledge of processes and experience in banking, including Head of Private Bank Glenn De Kretser who has nearly two decades’ experience in banking,” Mr Liddy said.
