BOQ Appoints new Director

Tuesday, 23/02/2010

BOQ is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr David Willis as a non-executive Director.

Mr Willis has over 32 years’ experience in financial services in the Asia Pacific, the UK and the US.

He is a Chartered Accountant who was most recently employed as the Chief Executive Officer of HBOS Australia.

Mr Willis has held senior executive roles at Westpac, been the Managing Director of Lloyds Bank Australia and a Director of Southpac Corporation; a corporate advisory business owned by The National Bank of New Zealand and Lloyds Bank.

BOQ’s Chairman Mr Neil Summerson acknowledged that Mr Willis’ extensive experience will complement the Board’s current skill set and will be an important addition in assisting to strategically drive the Bank’s continued growth.

“Mr Willis brings a wealth of expertise to the BOQ Board including the responsibility for the strategic development of many reputable financial services organisations.

“He will be an asset to the Bank by enhancing the Board’s already impressive knowledge base and I am positive he will make a solid contribution to the Bank’s strategic growth and profitability.”

Mr Willis said it was BOQ’s position as a challenger to the major banks that attracted him to the company.

“Given my history in challenging the big four Australian banks, I was particularly keen to maintain a relationship with a challenger brand.

“I’m delighted to join the BOQ board and look forward to the challenges and opportunities ahead.”

Mr Willis is an independent Director and his directorship duties at the Bank will begin effective immediately.

This appointment follows the retirement of Director Mr Peter Fox in November 2009.
